Seabrook Island Equestrian

Our full-service Equestrian Center features one of the few beach rides on the East Coast and caters to riders of all skill levels with guided trail rides, pony rides and riding lessons.

The Club’s Equestrian Center at Seabrook Island helps define the unique lifestyle enjoyed by Island residents. The center features spacious pastures, three miles of trails and modern facilities that include 42 stalls—perfect for short- or long-term boarding—for both residents as well as non-residents. Our experienced staff is ready and able to look after you and your horse’s every need.

Rates & Reservations

Advanced Beach Rides

This exhilarating ride tours the North Beach area and is for advanced riders only. The rider must have a minimum of three or more current years of riding experience and have good control at a walk, trot and canter.

Reservations required | Rate: $150/rider

Walking Beach Rides

This ride is ideal for the beginner rider. No experience necessary. This ride tours the North Beach area.

Reservations required | Rate: $150/rider

Requirements for both Beach Rides: 12-years-of-age or older with a 240 lb. weight limit for all riders. Reservation times depend on tide conditions.

Scenic Trail Rides

This walking ride meanders through the scenic woods, marshes, and tidal creeks of Seabrook Island and lasts approximately one hour with brief pre-ride pointers. There’s no finer way to experience the beauty of Seabrook Island.

Reservations required | Rate: $75/rider | Minimum age of eight

Pony Rides

Parent-led pony rides are available from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. by appointment for children up to eight years old. Wait until you see the look of wonder in your child’s eyes.

By appointment | Rate: $45/per rider per half hour

*Required Riding Attire: Closed-toe shoes, long pants, and helmet (provided) must be worn at all times.

*Please note, rates are inclusive of tax, but do not include gratuities.

  • Advanced Beach Ride: Scheduled based on tides
  • Walking Beach Ride: Scheduled based on tides.
  • Scenic Trail Ride: 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • Pony Ride: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. by appointment.

2011

  • Allie Augustine (granddaughter of Seabrook Residents Richard & Madeline Marion) won the South Carolina Governor’s Cup—the holy grail of awards in the region for equitation competition as only the top 15 riders in the U.S. are invited to participate
  • Charles Hairfield (Seabrook equestrian center Head Trainer & Manager) had three riders in the finals who all placed in the top ten finishers of the South Carolina Governor’s Cup competition

 

2010

Meet the Horses

Emma

Emma is an Arabian mare. Her color is flea bitten gray. Emma does not like the water but, is a wonderful ride on the beach. She is very good with kids.

Fred

Fred is a registered Paint Horse. He is black with two back white socks. Fred is what we call a breeding stock paint, he has no coloring like your typical paint. He is a joy to ride on the beach or the trail.

Lacey

Lacey Gold (Lacey) is one of our favorites. She is great on the beach, trail, and is one of our lesson horses. She is a registered American Paint Horse. She is always on the go whether it is a beach ride or a show.

Nick

Nick is a sorrel Quarter horse gelding. Nick has been with us for many years now. He is great for beginner riders of all ages.

Leo

Leo is a registered Paint Horse gelding. He is one of our beach and trail horses. If you are an advanced rider Leo is the horse for you. Leo is usually ridden English but, can be ridden western as well.

Danny

Danny is a Quarter horse/Morgan cross. His color is a deep chocolate brown.

Silky

Silky is a registered Marsh Tacky mare, the South Carolina state horse, which is considered an endangered breed. She is a great ride on the beach or a trail.

Fancy

Fancy is a Quarter horse chestnut mare. She competed in Western pleasure before coming to Seabrook. Fancy is a perfect children’s horse.

Sunny

Sunny is a sorrel gelding Quarter horse. He participated in parades and celebrations, and is a great ride in the woods and along the marsh.

Jolly

Jolly is a Palomino-draft cross. Don’t let his short legs fool you, he is always on the move.

Domino

Domino is a Pinto gelding pony. He has been used for eventing and pony club. Domino is typically ridden by our guides.

Dewey

Dewey is a bay quarter horse with lots of trail experience, but equally comfortable on the beach for novice and advanced riders alike.

Lady

Lady is a 12-year -old Chestnut Quarter Horse. With her striking white blaze and three white socks, she is easy to spot in our herd field, often alongside her best friend Fancy.  Prior to joining us she was an English lesson horse  and does very well with riders of all ages on our scenic trail.
